Night to Shine – Volunteer Now
On one night, February 10, 2017, 350 churches in all 50 states and 9 countries will host “Night to Shine” for thousands of honored guests. This unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs ages 14 and older, is an opportunity for God's people to serve as event volunteers or as a buddy for one of the special needs guests. Last year over 250 volunteers and buddies provided a memorable experience to over 150 Guests at Garfield Memorial. Volunteer today! Volunteers are needed to help with parking, food service, entertainment and much more. Stop by the tables in the lobbies for more information and to sign up. You can also volunteer online, by phone or email at: phone - 216.800.PROM; email - firstname.lastname@example.org; online - www.nighttoshinegmc.com. Night to Shine is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation.
Food Pantry Items Needed
This month we are in special need of donations of chicken, tuna, stews, hearty soups, and spaghetti sauce. Please drop items off at either campus in the collection areas along with other nonperishable items. Donations of grocery gifts cards (Aldi’s, Giant Eagle) in denominations of $25 & cash/check/digital donations for the food pantry ministry are always needed. Simply bring to either church office or place in the offering noting that it is for the food pantry. If you are in need of assistance, please contact either church office: Pepper Pike, 216.831.1566 or South Euclid, 216.381.2953. If you’d like to assist with distribution of food, contact Mary Jo Garrison 440-423-0924 or Nancy Rapaszky 440-725-7214.
KidzRead is Garfield Church's latest and most significant investment in students at Greenview Upper Elementary in South Euclid. Kidz Club (South Euclid)
Kidz Club is our outreach to children and youth in the South Euclid area. Kidz Club happens on Wednesdays from 3:00-5:00 PM. Kidz Club is getting HUGE. We are currently engaging over 40 kids each week. We need you to help us connect with elementary, junior high and high school youth in this ministry. If interested in serving, please contact Campus Pastor Scott by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone/text at 419.834.5120.
Summer Youth Mission Trips!
This summer we are offering two exciting opportunities for our youth to participate in Mission Trips.
Our senior high trip will be to the Northern Cheyenne Native American Reservation in Lame Deer, Montana. The Cheyenne aligned themselves with the Lakota and Arapaho during the Battle at Little Bighorn, and the youth will actually visit the site of that battle one evening on this trip. The trip will depart from Garfield on June 17, 2017 and return on June 24, 2017. Do to our extensive fundraising and other church support we are still able to keep this trip at the affordable price of $300/student. If there are significant financial concerns, please contact Perry or Alex as there may be scholarship support available as we get closer to the trip. This trip is for students currently in grades 8-12.
We will be offering our first-ever Junior High Mission Trip this year. This will be a Mission Trip to Lincoln County, West Virginia in the heart of Appalachia from July 16-22, 2017. Pastor Scott Blevins will lead this trip. Scott has led several Youth Works Mission Trips in West Virginia in the past. This particular site and week is exclusively for "Middle School" students in grades 6-8 currently. The cost for this trip will be $250 /student.
On Sunday, September 18th we will have our first "Soup Sales" fundraiser of the fall and there will be an important introductory meeting at Noon in the chapel at Pepper Pike, and immediately following worship at South Euclid, to receive information and answer questions about our trips, which are through YouthWorks.
