Psalm 71: Do not cast me away in my old age. Do not forsake me when my Strength is gone.
Broken Bread Ministries
Matthew 4:4 “But he answered, “It is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
Just as we need God every single day, we need Bread and nourishment every day, and it can be one of the most precious gifts. To break bread and share a meal, to bless someone with food and talk and share and laugh around a table is one of the most beautiful times of the day. This ministry is to expand the table we eat at, to give and bless those with food and the Word. To bring members of our community and our church together and make neighbors into family, to make strangers into friends. This mobile ministry is about preparing food and bringing it to people in need and to share with those in need. We are always looking for helping hands in the kitchen and to help serve and bless all we can.
For information about serving or for information on how you can donate to Broken Bread Ministries please contact Morgan Schnell at firstname.lastname@example.org
Second Shirt Ministries
John answered, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”’ – Luke 3:11 (NIV)
Homelessness is an international epidemic, and the homeless are a largely forgotten sector of the population. That is why House of Prayer is happy to announce a new mobile ministry called Second Shirt Ministries. The aim of Second Shirt Ministries is to go out into the city of Cleveland to be the face of Christ and to provide food, clothing, and dignity to these people who have been cast out of society. Our next mission will be on July 21. You can take part in two ways:
SHELTER VISIT – OCTOBER 28th
We will be serving meals to around 350 men in the Lakeside shelter from 5pm-7pm. We will aim to get to the shelter at 4:30pm to set up and get everything ready and we will be leaving from Garfield Memorial Church (Pepper Pike campus) at 3:30pm. For those who haven’t been on a visit before, there are two serving times when our team is stationed in the kitchen, each person with a specific task, and where we serve the meals to the residents at the shelter. Many of those who have been to the shelter can attest to the fact that even though it is a small gesture of love, the experience is very rewarding and the residents of the shelter appreciate it very much. The kitchen has limited space so we will be limiting the size of the team that will be visiting the shelter.
FOOD PREPARATION – OCTOBER 27th
We have secured the kitchen at the Pepper Pike campus to prepare the meal on Saturday October 27th. The kitchen is booked from 11am (more details to follow).
Any and all donations are very welcome and in fact necessary for us to be able to prepare the meals – this ministry depends wholly on donations. Previously we asked for people to donate specific food items which helped tremendously, but it seems that cash donations might go a little further since we can purchase the ingredients at the Restaurant Depot at very reduced prices (even lower than BJ’s or Costco). You can donate to Second Shirt Homeless Ministry through our giving page on this website.
If God has placed a desire on your heart to serve those less fortunate, please contact Clayton Papenfus at email@example.com
