Learn more about the church

Welcome!

Welcome to Garfield Memorial Church. We're so glad you stopped by to check out our church community. We hope you'll take time to explore this website and our online offerings, send us a note, check out a sermon, or join us for in-person or online worship.

We are a multi-ethnic, economically diverse church with no more than 52% of worshipers comprising one ethnic group. Our diversity extends into every category you can think of, from age to politics to learning styles. We believe that the gospel is for everybody, and we seek to live into the vision of God’s kingdom in the New Testament book of Revelation 7:9, which describes heaven as having “a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages.”

What to Expect When You Visit

No matter which worship service you attend, you can expect to find a welcoming group of people who are glad that you have come to worship with us. Our mission is to "connect diverse people who share a common brokenness, with Jesus." Our core values are safety, authenticity, diversity, transformation and reconciliation and we try to live those out every day.

Garfield Memorial is a “come as you are” church. While some people dress more formally for the Heritage worship service in Pepper Pike (9:00, Sanctuary), the tone is informal in all our services. Everyone is welcome and we have many guests and attenders who are just exploring Christianity.

Children and youth are highly valued and we want to be a church for children, youth and adults who learn in many different ways. Our inclusion coordinator is available as needed.

At our Heritage service, we use a printed bulletin to guide worship; at our Mosaic service everything is on our screens. Our website is the best place to go to find out how to get connected and learn more about Garfield.
